§ Mr. Normantonasked the Secretary of State for Trade when he will be in a position to make a statement on progress towards the adoption of legislation on commercial agency which has already been accepted by the other eight member States in the European Community.
§ Mr. DeakinsI assume the hon. Member is referring to the draft proposal for an EEC Directive on harmonisation of laws relating to commercial agents. Our understanding is that Commission officials are revising the text of their draft. The question of acceptance by member States arises after the Commission has put a proposal to the Council.
