§ Mr. Craigenasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he has any further statement to make on the Government's offer to purchase the North Sea assets of the Burmah Oil Company.
§ Mr. BennIn my statement of 3rd December I informed the House that the Government had offered to buy from the Burmah Oil Company Ltd. the whole or a substantial part of its oil interests in the North Sea at a fair price to be negotiated by the Government and Burmah on an arm's-length basis. Negotiations are proceeding with a view to an early conclusion, whereupon I will report the outcome to Parliament.
