Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many jobs have been lost in each of the main industries in Kirkby and on Merseyside, respectively; in the last 10 years; and what job opportunities have replaced them.

Precise information about jobs lost and new jobs is not available but an indication of net changes can be obtained by comparing the level of the mid-year employment estimates, the most recent of which are for June 1974. For June
