§ Mr. MulleyIn October last, 1,960,000 pupils at special schools in England and Wales and pupils in other schools entitled to it on grounds of age were receiving free milk. In addition 54,000 primary school pupils over the age of 7 were receiving free school milk on health grounds. These figures represent 93.8 per cent. and 2 per cent. of the respective age groups present on the day of the census. On that day 37 local education authorities had made arrangements for the sale of milk in a total of 1,229 primary and 24 secondary schools. This statement, with the agreement of my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Wales includes returns from Welsh authorities.
