§ Mr. Clemitsonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will make a statement on overcrowding at Rampton and Moss Side Hospitals.
§ Dr. OwenBoth hospitals are virtually full. There is a mix of single and dormitory accommodation in both hospitals. Generally, single accommodation is slightly above current guidelines for minimum space standards in psychiatric hospitals, and dormitory accommodation marginally below. Rampton has accommodation for approximately 1,100 patients. Some wards are out of commission on account of the upgrading programme, and in consequence at times some dormitories are fuller than we would wish.
Moss Side has accommodation for just over 400 patients. There are a few vacancies on the female side of the hospital but the male side is full. It is sometimes necessary to put up extra beds in dormitories on the male side.
§ Mr. Clemitsonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many 520W patients were resident at (a) Rampton Hospital and (b) Moss Side Hospital on 31st October 1975.
