§ 32. Mr. Crouchasked the Secretary of State for Trade what information he has concerning subsidies in respect of the export to the United Kingdom of paper and board products from Spanish mills.
§ 36. Mr. Simsasked the Secretary of State for Trade what evidence his Department is seeking concerning the dumping of paper and board products from Poland.
§ Mr. DeakinsAs I explained in answer to an earlier Question, my Department has received no formal applications for action against dumped or subsidised paper and board products, from any country. My officials and those of the Department of Industry have, however, had exploratory talks with representatives of the industry about the problem of such low-cost imports. These talks covered the possibility that imports from a number of sources may be either dumped or subsidised. If the industry decided to put in a formal application for either anti-dumping or countervailing action my 489W department would be happy to consider it. At that stage it would naturally discuss with applicants the information needed and the best ways of getting it.
