§ Sir Frederic Bennettasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether recent developments within the EEC have affected the agreed principle of a minimum safeguard price mechanism announced by him on 4th December as an important element in the compromise agreement.
§ Mr. HattersleyMy right hon. Friend the Prime Minister gave the House on 4th December details of the agreement reached at Rome, including agreement on appropriate mechanism to protect and ensure the development of alternative sources of Community energy. On 9th December at tthe Council of Ministers the Commission undertook to submit specific proposals on these mechanisms by mid-January.
