§ 37. Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Trade if his Department collects information about cost escalation insurance schemes operated by other members of the EEC; and how these schemes, if any, compare with the United Kingdom scheme.
§ Mr. DeakinsYes. The French Government have been operating such a scheme for many years. I understand that the Italian scheme is currently in suspense. In this complex field precise comparisons between different national systems are difficult. But in general the French arrangements are more liberal than ours. We are taking this into account in reviewing our scheme, as well as all other pertinent factors, including cost.
