§ 49. Mr. Spriggsasked the Secretary of State for Trade whether, in the light of information provided by the hon. Member for St. Helens, he will take action to protect traders against bankrupts and those who choose to go into liquidation.
§ Mr. Clinton DavisThe Question relates to a letter from my hon. Friend about a company which, I understand, has been in receivership and is now in voluntary liquidation. Inquiries are being made, and my right hon. Friend will reply further to my hon. Friend as soon as possible. In the wider context, the Insolvency Bill at present before Parliament seeks powers to exclude from directorships persons who have been directors of two or more companies which have gone into liquidation within the last five years.
