§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) if he will cease to differentiate repairs and maintenance and other types of work undertaken by contractors and subcontractors in the construction industry by making repairs and maintenance zero rated for value added tax purposes;
(2) what would be the annual cost of zero rating for VAT purposes repair and maintenance work carried out on buildings.
