§ Mr. Norman Lamontasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) whether he will consider increasing the amounts of money that any one individual can invest in the Government's index-linked savings scheme;
(2) whether he will extend the index-linked saving scheme to include children under 16 years.
§ Mr. DellAll national savings facilities are regularly reviewed. The Government have no plans to extend the indexed savings schemes, which were introduced as a modest experiment to help protect at least some elements of small savings without risking the extension of indexation into capital markets generally.
