HC Deb 11 December 1975 vol 902 c315W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his latest estimate of the number of houses in England unfit for human habitation; and what proportion of the total housing stock in England this represents.

Mr. Armstrong

The House Condition Survey of England and Wales conducted in 1971 indicated that the number of unfit dwellings was approximately 1.2 million, or 7.3 per cent. of the then total dwelling stock. The information is not available separately for England.
