§ 25. Mr. Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what contacts he has had with Scottish local authorities about their contribution to creating jobs, in view of current unemployment.
Mr. MilanCirculars have been issued to local authorities drawing to their attention the job creation scheme and the additional programme of capital investment to alleviate unemployment in construction industry. Several authorities have sought and received advice from my Department on their response to the job creation scheme for which the Manpower Services Commission is responsible. The authorities concerned have been told how much investment they have been allocated from the additional construction programme.
