asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list in the Official Report those wages councils which operate any forms of wage for age or incremental pay scales.

All 46 wages councils provide wage for age scales. The following councils provide incremental scales for learners and/or apprenticesCorset. Dressmaking and Women's Light Clothing (Scotland). Flax and Hemp. Fur. Hairdressing Undertakings. Ready-made and Wholesale Bespoke Tailoring. Retail Bespoke Tailoring (England and Wales). Retail Bespoke Tailoring (Scotland). Rubber-proofed Garment Making. Shirtmaking. Wholesale Mantle and Costume.

The following councils provide for reduced rates for new entrants to the trade, during periods varying from the first eight weeks to the first year of employment: Dressmaking and Women's Light Clothing (England and Wales). Hat, Cap and Millinery. Household Linen and Cotton Goods. Made-up Textiles. Retail Bookselling and Stationery Trades. Retail Bread and Flour Confectionery Trades (England and Wales). Retail Drapery, Outfitting and Footwear Trades. Retail Food Trades (England and Wales). Retail Newsagency, Tobacco and Confectionery Trades (England and Wales). Rope, Twine and Net. Sack and Bag.
