HC Deb 09 December 1975 vol 902 c152W
43. Mr. Scott

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether she is satisfied with the reciprocal arrangements for the payment of social security benefits between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

Mr. O'Malley

Our bilateral arrangements with the Republic of Ireland were for the most part superseded by EEC regulations from April 1973. Some pension claims have been delayed under the new arrangements but a recent change in procedure will enable benefit to be put into payment more quickly. The arrangements for payment have otherwise been working satisfactorily.
