HC Deb 09 December 1975 vol 902 c93W
Mr. Kenneth Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether the riverside facilities at Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire will be within a cargo-handling zone as defined by the Dock Work Regulations Bill and so subject to the provisions of that Bill.

Mr. Booth

On the River Trent the tide flows at mean high water to Cromwell Lock. If the riverside facilities are within five miles, in a direct line, of this point, then they are within the cargo-handling zone and cargo-handling work performed at them will, unless covered by the specific exclusions, be within scope of the provisions of the Bill.
