asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much money was made available through local authority loans for home purchase for each of the last five years.

Mr. Armstrong

The actual sums advanced by local authorities for house purchase in England and Wales—other than to housing associations or to purchasers of council houses—in each of the last five years are as follows:

Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to write to the hon. Member for Birmingham, Perry Barr, as promised in his written reply of 19th June 1975, column 317 of the Official Report, concerning local authority mortgages.

The matter is still being investigated by my Department and I shall write to my hon. Friend when inquiries have been completed.
