HC Deb 09 December 1975 vol 902 c178W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Lord President Of the Council if, with reference to the White Paper "Our Changing Democracy", Command Paper No. 6348, a decision has already been taken to set up a boundary commission in Wales whose recommendations for changes to constituencies will be put into effect in Wales within four years of setting up the National Assembly irrespective of whether such recommendations have been enacted for Westminster constituencies.

Mr. Edward Short

There will not be a new boundary commission. The responsibilities set out in the White Paper will be added to those of the existing Boundary Commission for Wales. It is envisaged that Assembly constituencies will be based on the Commission's next review of Parliamentary constituencies. The Government hope that this review will be completed in time for the second Assembly election.
