HC Deb 09 December 1975 vol 902 c179W
Mr. Pardoe

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many letters, sent by first-class post, his Department received within the last three months; and how many of these arrived within one day, two days and more than two days, respectively, of the date on the postmark.

Mr Merlyn Rees

The information required is not held as a matter of routine and could not be obtained without disproportionate cost.

Mr. Pardoe

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will conduct a survey to inform himself of the proportion of letters sent by his Department by first-class post which arrive within one day of posting.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

No. The effort and cost involved in such an exercise would be disproportionately high.
