HC Deb 09 December 1975 vol 902 cc121-2W
Mr. Emery

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make special provision in order to provide capital sums for the education project at Beer Primary School, Devon, where the cliff face behind the school is unsafe and the school building itself is in need of replacement.

Miss Joan Lestor

No. It is for the Devon education authority to decide how it wishes to deploy the capital authorisations for school building made available to it; and it has not asked my right hon. Friend for any additional resources for a project at Beer Primary School. As I informed my hon. Friend the Member for Manchester, Moss Side (Mr. Hatton) on 3rd December, Devon has notified its intention to underuse by £600,000 its allocation for the current year. It has also assured my Department that it has taken steps to avoid any possible danger to the pupils at Beer.
