§ 23. Mr. Ridleyasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will make a statement on the Government's plans for the price and subsidisation of bread.
§ Mr. MaclennanThe price of the large sliced loaf rose by 1p on 1st December; 1p of this is due to the reduction in the bread subsidy which my right hon. Friend announced on 25th November and the other 1p is due to the increased costs of bread manufacturers. My right hon. Friend has no plans for further reductions in the immediate future.
