asked the Secretary of Stale for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the present fixed limit on the number of Soviet officials who are resident in the United Kingdom for more than three weeks; and what it was on 1st March 1974.

The following fixed limits are placed on Soviet officials resident in the United Kingdom for periods longer than three monthsSoviet Embassy: 93 (This figure has been temporarily increased by five Soviet Foreign Ministry trainees). Soviet Trade Delegation: 47 (This figure has been temporarily increased by one to allow for a brief take-over period). Other Soviet organisations, including commercial organisations, press, etc.: 106. Temporary appointments to the Soviet Trade Delegation for periods of 1–3 months: 13. The same fixed limits applied to Soviet officials on 1st March 1974.
