§ Mr. Joel BarnettThe following table showns identifiable public expenditure per head in each country for the period 1969–70 to 1974–75, the only years for which information is available for all countries. The figures for England and Northern Ireland in the first four years are partly estimated.
§ Mr. Denzil DaviesThere are already provisions in the tax code under which various reliefs are available for many such contributions. On 22nd September it was announced that the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster had been asked by the Prime Minister to undertake, in consultation with the Minister responsible for the arts, a thorough assessment of 479W the financial problems facing the arts. This assessment will include consideration of the relevant tax provisions.
