§ Mr. OakesA total of 9,831 planning appeals were outstanding at 31st October including 1,240 on which action is deferred at the parties' request.
The average periods between receipt and decision for those appeals decided by the Secretary of State during the three months ended 31st October were 67 weeks where a local inquiry was held and 56 weeks where the appeals were dealt with by the written method.
