HC Deb 05 December 1975 vol 901 cc462-3W
Mr. Peter Walker

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many planning appeals are currently being considered by his Department; and what is the average time between the date of the appeal being made and the date of the decision for those decisions made during the last three months in respect of those decisions that are made with reference to the Ministers concerned.

Mr. Oakes

A total of 9,831 planning appeals were outstanding at 31st October including 1,240 on which action is deferred at the parties' request.

The average periods between receipt and decision for those appeals decided by the Secretary of State during the three months ended 31st October were 67 weeks where a local inquiry was held and 56 weeks where the appeals were dealt with by the written method.
