HC Deb 05 December 1975 vol 901 cc370-1W
Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if, in order to reduce unemployment and to help young people acquire a skilled trade, he will advise the Wages Council to lift its ban on hairdressers having more than one apprentice.

Mr. Harold Walker

I understand that changes in apprenticeship conditions are being currently considered by the Hair-dressing Undertakings Wages Council and that the Training Services Agency has approached the two main employers' organisations offering premium grants under the Special Measures Scheme to make additional places available within the apprenticeship conditions established by the Council.
