HC Deb 05 December 1975 vol 901 cc426-7W
Mr. David Price

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will take steps to encourage improved methods for the bulk storage of electricity, so as to reduce the capital cost to the electricity supply industry of having to meet daily and seasonal peak loads; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Eadie

The Central Electricity Generating Board has a continuing interest in storage as a means of improving the load factor on its generating plant and has recently reviewed a number of novel methods. The results of this review have been published in the Board's journalResearch, a copy of which I have placed in the Library. I am satisfied that the supply industry is giving this matter sufficient attention and have no plans to make a statement.
