Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) why 104 young persons sentenced to borstal training are in local prisons;

(2) how long each of the 104 young persons sentenced to borstal training but located instead in local prisons on 30th September 1975 have been held in prison;

(3) which local prisons are being used to hold those 104 young persons sentenced to borstal training but held in prison instead; and how many are in each prison;

£25,000. Three prisoners were charged with offences against discipline under Rule 47 of the Prison Rules. The charges were referred to the Board of Visitors, who awarded in all three cases forfeiture of earnings, forfeiture of privileges and non-associated labour for 56 days. In the case of two of these men serving determinate sentences, the Board also ordered the forfeiture of 180 days' remission.
