HC Deb 05 December 1975 vol 901 c347W
Mr. Farr

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list the results of his Department's schemes to eliminate the badger in certain parts of the country by the use of cyanide gas; and if he will at the same time individually list the areas concerned with an estimate of the number of badgers or other wild creatures which his Department estimates have been destroyed to date.

Mr. Strang

By 26th November cyanide gassing had been carried out at one place in Dorset, five in North Avon and one in Gloucestershire. In all, 214 groups of holes had been treated. It is not possible to estimate the number of badgers, or of other wild creatures if any, that have been destroyed as a result of these operations.
