HC Deb 04 December 1975 vol 901 cc716-7W
Mr. Parry

asked the Lord President of the Council if he will make a statement on the arrangements for the recent lobby of Parliament by the unemployed, details of which have been sent to him by the hon. Member for Liverpool, Scotland Exchange.

Mr. Edward Short

Some 20,000 people assembled outside St. Stephen's entrance on the afternoon of Wednesday 26th November. Only the Grand Committee Room, Westminster Hall, may be used for meetings in connection with mass lobbies and this room was booked continuously for meetings of about 200 each time from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. In all, some 2,500 people were admitted during the day including those admitted to the Central Lobby where the maximum permitted number was maintained throughout.
