asked the Secretary of State for Defence what plans he has for the replacement of the RAF Shackleton AEW aircraft.

Mr. William Rodgers

We are currently considering replacing RAF Shackleton AEW aircraft either through participation in a collective NATO AEW force based on the Boeing E3A AWACS aircraft or by a national force based on the Nimrod.
