HC Deb 04 December 1975 vol 901 cc731-2W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will consider allowing naudicelle sunflower oil tablets, the name of which has been supplied to her, to be prescribed for multiple sclerosis patients on the National Health Service.

Dr. Owen

I am not satisfied that this and other preparations of linoleic acid should be used under the National Health Service as drugs in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. The subject has been very carefully considered by independent expert bodies and I am writing to the hon. Member setting out the full position.
