§ Mr. Arthur Jonesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has knowledge of the number of agricultural tied houses which are involved in his recent inquiry to housing authorities; how many replies have been received; and what conclusions he has drawn.
§ Mr. ArmstrongHousing authorities in England and Wales were among those invited to comment on the Consultative Document "Abolition of the Tied Cottage628W System in Agriculture" issued on 7th August. This estimates that there are some 70,000 agricultural tied cottages in England and Wales.
About 100 housing authorities sent comments to my Department. These and other comments received from interested bodies are being considered in the preparation of the legislation.
