Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will list in the Official Report the various bodies in Yorkshire and Humberside to which he makes appointments.

Mr. Mulley

I do not make appointments to the universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, or major further education establishments in this area; nor do I make appointments to the Yorkshire and Humberside Council for Further Education. Government appointments to the courts of the universities in this area are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Lord President of the Council. Further information could be obtained only by extensive research into the trust deeds and the instruments of government and management of the remaining establishments and bodies.
