asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many patients are currently awaiting admission to the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven; and what is the average length of time a patient waits for non-emergency admission.

There were 1,205 patients awaiting admission to the hospital on 1st December 1975. Figures to answer the second part of the Question are not readily available; of the 1,205 patients awaiting admission, 185 have been waiting one month, 195 one to two months, 183 two to four months, 324 four to twelve months and 318 over twelve months.
