HC Deb 02 December 1975 vol 901 cc516-7W
48. Mr. Henderson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what were the figures for unemployment in October.

Mr. Foot

I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to a similar question by my hon. Friend, the Member for Caerphilly (Mr. Evans) earlier today.

51. Mr. Alan Clark

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the latest available figure of those unemployed; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Foot

The provisional total number of registered unemployed persons in Great Britain on 13th November was 1,120,137 representing 4.9 per cent. of the total number of employees. This level is totally unacceptable. Some steps have already been taken to mitigate the worst effects of unemployment, and further measures are being considered to save or create further jobs.
