HC Deb 02 December 1975 vol 901 c571W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will list in the Official Report the number of discussions between his Department and the Manchester Airport Authority on the problems of a second runway at Manchester Airport; and whether his Department has carried out any studies on how the first runway at Manchester Airport can be levelled and resurfaced while a second runway is being built.

Mr. Shore

I understand that the Manchester Airport Authority had two meetings, on 24th May 1971 and 4th August 1971, with technical officials of the then Department of Trade and Industry, whose duties passed to the Civil Aviation Authority on its creation in 1972. The Department has carried out no studies. These would be within the responsibility of the airport authority.
