HC Deb 07 August 1975 vol 897 cc442-3W
Mr. Welsh

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he is taking to increase the use of home-grown timber in Scotland.

Mr. William Ross

Current production of home-grown timber in Scotland is already committed to existing consumers for about the next decade or so. These consumers have expansion plans to take up the increasing yield of timber expected in future years as it arises.

Mr. Welsh

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give figures showing the amount and types of timber imported into Scotland per annum over the past five years from (a) Norway and (b) all other sources.

Mr. Deakins

I have been asked to reply.

The information is not available, as overseas trade figures are compiled only for the United Kingdom as a whole.
