HL Deb 07 August 1975 vol 363 cc1994-5WA
Lord KENNET

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Common Fishery Policy of the European Communities operates within the fishery limits of dependent territories for whose external affairs the United Kingdom is responsible (e.g. Bermuda, the Falkland Islands); and if so, whether Her Majesty's Government will have to police these zones, or whether this will be done by the local civil authorities.

Lord GORONWY-ROBERTS

The Treaty of Rome does not apply to the non-European dependent territories for whose external relations Her Majesty's Government are responsible. In consequence, the Common Fisheries Policy does not apply to the waters of those territories (including Bermuda and the Falkland Islands).
