HC Deb 07 August 1975 vol 897 cc379-80W
Mr. Gorst

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what percentage of council house tenants have an income of less than £4,000 per annum, of between £4,000 and £8,000 per annum, and over £8,000 per annum.

Mr. Armstrong

From the Family Expenditure Survey it is estimated that, in 1974 83 per cent. of council tenants in the United Kingdom had gross household incomes of less than £4,000 per annum and 17 per cent. had incomes of between £4,000 and £8,000. Less than 1 per cent. had incomes of over £8,000.
