HC Deb 07 August 1975 vol 897 cc530-1W
Mr. Weetch

asked the Secretary of State for Trade (1) what framework exists for making inquiries concerning civil flight movements which may be unlawful and which cause disturbance and danger to the inhabitants of an urban area, especially if such movements are outside civil air corridors;

(2) whether he will investigate the circumstances of a low-level flight over Ipswich on 31st July by a civil aircraft which caused substantial disturbance and distress among the population of the town; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Clinton Davis

Incidents of this nature are investigated by the appropriate office of the Civil Aviation Authority to see whether any breaches of regulations are involved. In the case of flights in the Ipswich area, inquiries should be addressed to the Civil Aviation Authority Office (Southern), Heston Aerodrome, Hounslow, Middlesex, giving full details of the incident, including its time, the direction of flight, type of aircraft, and, in particular, if possible, the registration number of the aircraft.
