asked the Attorney-General what is the backlog of cases awaiting trial at the Manchester Crown Court; and how many of these have been committed there by the Bury magistrates' bench.

The backlog of cases awaiting trial at the Manchester Crown Court on Friday 25th July was 206; these are usually disposed of at a rate of between 30 and 40 a week. Of the 206 cases, five have been committed there from Bury magistrates' court.
