§ Mr. Aitkenasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she has any plans to introduce tighter control for the safety specifications to which toys imported from abroad have to conform.
Mr. Alan WilliamsAll toys, whether imported or of United Kingdom manufacture, have to comply with the Toys (Safety) Regulations 1974. In general, I am satisfied that these regulations cover the major hazards which have in the past been associated with toys, but I am always ready to consider additional measures for which a need arises.
