§ Mr. Gwilyn Robertsasked the Prime Minister if he is satisfied with the degree of public accountability of the public sector industries; if he will take steps to make these industries directly accountable to the relevant Minister; and if he will make a statement.
§ The Prime MinisterIndustries in the public sector have always been directly accountable to the relevant Minister and accountable to Parliament. As previously announced I have invited the National Economic Development Office to make a study of the nationalised industries and when it has been completed the Government intend to publish a White Paper embodying its report and dealing particularly with the relationship between Government and the nationalised industries.
