§ Mr. Alexander W. LyonShoplifting, which is a form of thelft, is already punishable on conviction on indictment with an unlimited fine, or up to 10 years' imprisonment, or both. The maximum penalties on summary conviction are £400 or six months' imprisonment, or both. My right hon. riend considers that these are adequate sentencing powers.
