HC Deb 04 August 1975 vol 897 c67W
Mr. Horam

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what insurance arrangements have been made to cover the loan of Magna Carta to the United States of America to mark the United States bicentenary.

Mr. Hattersley

In lieu of insurance, Her Majesty's Government have agreed to give a guarantee to the British Library that parliamentary authority would be sought to make good any loss or damage within an upper limit of £1¼ million.
