HC Deb 04 August 1975 vol 897 c81W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he has any proposals to reimburse persons who have recourse to professional advice and representation in negotiations with his Department for the acquisition of land under Highways Acts orders.

Mr. Alec Jones

The Welsh Office already meets the legal costs of persons transferring land acquired for highway purposes, as provided for in Section 23 of the Compulsory Purchase Act 1965. A sum is included in the compensation settlement to cover costs reasonably and necessarily incurred on professional services for the purpose of the negotiations.
