§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the development of the infra-red telescope ordered by the Science Research Council which it is hoped to set up in Hawaii.
§ Mr. MulleyApproval was given last year to a proposal by the Science Research Council to construct and operate a 3.8 metre aperture infra-red flux collector, to be located in Hawaii, by arrangement with the University of Hawaii, to which some observing time will be allocated. The main components of the telescope are being designed and manufactured in Britain, and it is hoped that construction will be completed by the end of 1977.
