A Welsh house condition survey in 1968 estimated that there were 91,900 unfit houses in Wales, corresponding to 10.4 per cent. of the total housing stock. When the survey was repeated in 1973, the estimated number of unfit houses was 147,500, corresponding to 14.9 per cent. of the total stock.
