§ Mr. Youngerasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress is being made towards the drawing up of a register of disabled persons in Strathclyde Region; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. William RossI understand that the social work department of Strathclyde Regional Council is reviewing the information about disabled persons which was available to the former local authorities now constituting the Region. I have no doubt that the council will be considering, in the light of this review, what further action, if any, is required to identify disabled persons in their area.
§ Mr. Youngerasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many persons are registered as disabled; and how many are in receipt of disablement benefit in Kyle and Carrick district, at the latest convenient date.
§ Mr. William RossInformation about the number of disabled persons is not available centrally, and I am advised by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services that the number of recipients of disablement benefit cannot be identified below regional level.
