HC Deb 04 August 1975 vol 897 cc62-3W
Mr. David Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what decisions have been arrived at as a result of the consultations between the officials of the Hampshire County Council and technical officers of his Department regarding the future of the cyanide contaminated soil found in the centre of Basingstoke; whether the earlier proposal to dump this contaminated waste at Popham has been discontinued; and if he will make a statement on the degree of hazard to health.

Mr. Denis Howell

Final decisions have not yet been reached but the Hampshire County Council has abandoned the proposal to deposit the cyanide-contaminated soil at Popham.
